Minimize Security Risks
PC-centric architectures are natural security hazards to one’s enterprise. Because sensitive data is shared by the client workstations and the servers, unauthorized access and even theft become everyday risks, with no simple remedies.
Centralized networks will always be more secure than dispersed devices. But this is even more apparent in an SBC environment. This is because system administrators are able to focus on server security alone, enabling them to implement the highest data protection standards.
Jetro addresses security risks with its two flagship solutions: COCKPIT™ and COCKPIT2i. Jetro CockpIT™ enables simple policy implementation to ensure that people can access the applications and the information they need, and nothing more. COCKPIT2i takes this concept one step further and creates a secure, server-based web browser in which all incoming data remains outside the corporate network and allows for a 100% safe web access.
Effective “eyes-only” security
The Jetro COCKPIT architecture is fundamentally more secure than competing SBC solutions. All application execution takes place on the server, and data never leaves the confines of the data center. Because only keystrokes and mouse clicks are transported from the client to the server, client data is neither valuable nor interesting to system hackers. This approach is known as “eyes-only” security. Users view the information that they need, with only a view of the data being transmitted over the network. All one has to do is focus one’s attention on making one’s server farm secure.
In contrast to the secure environment of COCKPIT, traditional multi-tier environments allow client devices to cache sensitive data locally. In those unsecured networks, users can store copies of documents locally. User can also create “offline folders” that may contain sensitive information but are now accessible to unauthorized readers.
Virus prevention that works
Virus protection is a good example of the SBC security advantage. Install and update anti-virus software in one central location to secure the entire network. Then implement standard policies about which applications can be run and which email attachments can be opened. With the right security in place, one can also allow outside consultants with nonstandard laptop configurations to access the network, without placing the entire enterprise IT at risk.
Let no risks in
Jetro’s COCKPIT2i is the world’s first server-based browsing solution. Unlike traditional solutions that try to identify malicious code coming into the network and eliminate it, COCKPIT2i allows no active code to pass through the network. The virtual browser accesses the web from a DMZ outside the corporate network. Users receive a video-like format of the requested web page rather than HTML. All HTTP and FTP ports (80, 443, 20, 21) are closed at the firewall which means nothing is exposed to the internet and the network is 100% secured. In doing so, COCKPIT2i protects not only against known threats but also against those which are unforeseen.
