Windows-based terminals have no moving parts and continue to work without failure for significantly extended time periods. This means that the rate of workstation failures is slashed. If a workstation crashes, the user can simply login to an alternative workstation and continue to work without interruption.

Furthermore, application processing is spread out over a farm of servers, eliminating a single point of failure. If one server needs maintenance, the others will pick up the load.
