General:
Busy networks that have more than 2,000
users in the directory service may need
to adjust CockpIT settings. In this document
we will explain how to analyze CockpIT’s
synchronization with the directory service
and how to make the necessary adjustments
to CockpIT’s settings.
Methods:
In order to check the size of the directory
service and the exact amount of time that
it takes CockpIT to read all of it, we will
use a program called JDsADScanner.exe.
This program is located under the installation
sub-folder lib.
(For example: 'c:\program fils\cockpitserver\lib\JDsADScanner.exe')
1. Open command prompt.
Click: START - RUN, type 'cmd'
and click OK.
2. Enter the installation sub-folder lib
(as described above).
3. Type the following command:
JDsADScanner.exe 0 “domain
name” users.xml groups.xml “administration
group” 1 1
The following information will be displayed:
AD scan thread - finished
scanning time 21 sec
Groups 11
Users 2101
4. The most important information is the
scanning time measured in seconds. 30 seconds
is normal for an directory service with
more than 2000 users.
